Money can’t buy everything, damn right! Facebook tries to buy the 1979 classic “Another Brick in the Wall Part 2” but gets bashed by the vintage band Pink Floyd.
For anyone who doesn’t know about Pink Floyd, an English musical rock band formed in London in 1965. Gaining an early following as one of the first British psychedelic groups, they were distinguished for their extended compositions, sonic experimentation, philosophical lyrics, and elaborate live shows, and became a leading band of the progressive rock genre, cited by some as the greatest progressive rock band of all time.
They are still popular and their music is listened to globally across multiple streaming platforms. Since they are popular (Or maybe Mr. Zuckerberg actually loves their music) Facebook decided to buy their song (Another Brick in the Wall Part 2.) for an Instagram ad and in return gets extremely bashed the band.
A spokesperson for Facebook told CNET that the song request came from the Instagram marketing team, not Zuckerberg himself and that the company respects the decisions of musical artists about whether or not to work with the social network and its properties.
With a huge, huge amount of money offered by CEO Mr. Zuckerberg, you can see Roger Waters in extreme anger and he’s smashing Zuckerberg with his words! He thinks with this song, they want to make these social apps more powerful to spoil our generations. It’s a great gesture from Pink Floyd to show these giants that you cannot buy everything!
“It arrived this morning, with an offer for a huge, huge amount of money and the answer is, ‘Fuck you. No fuckin’ way,'”
Roger Waters – Pink Floyd Co-Founder
“I only mention that, because this is an insidious movement of them to take over absolutely everything … I will not be a party to this bullshit, Zuckerberg.”
Not only that, he dug more into Mr. Zuckerberg, Back then during Harvard days, he started FaceMash, the hot-or-not-style-rating site at Harvard that eventually evolved into Facebook.
“How did this little prick who started off by saying, ‘She’s pretty, but we’ll also give her a 4 out of 5, she’s ugly, we’ll give her a 1,’ how the … did he get any power? And yet here he is, one of the most powerful idiots in the world.”
Roger Waters – Pink Floyd Co-Founder
There no doubt that he’s the most powerful idiot in the world! What do you think? Isn’t he?
