Facebook Post Privacy Options
There are various privacy modes that Facebook provides to its users. You may have found an opportunity to Edit the Audience if you post something. This is the default choice for controlling who can see and who can’t see the Facebook posts.
Facebook currently offers the following post privacy settings on its website.
Public: Anyone on the internet will see public content, regardless of whether they have a Facebook account.
Friends: These messages would only be visible to those on your contact list.
Friends Except: This option allows you to choose which friends you choose to keep out of the crowd.
Only Friends: Just the friends you’ve chosen will be able to see and interact with the message.
Only Me: You are the only one who can see the message.
Custom: This choice combines the Friends Except and the Specific options.
Friends Options: The article’s user can add and exclude friends from their friend list.
If one of your Facebook buddies tells you that they wanted to share one of your posts but couldn’t, you’ll need to adjust your privacy settings to allow sharing. The privacy settings on Facebook monitor any part of your profile, from who can see your images to who can see your messages. By pressing the “Privacy” icon next to the post time stamp and choosing “Friends” or “Public,” you can change the privacy settings on an individual post that you choose to make shareable.
If you want friends to share the message, choose “Friends” or “Public” if you want others to be able to see it.

Facebook Pages are open to the internet, and everyone can see them, even though they haven’t enjoyed them. Whether or not you can share a friend’s post on Facebook is solely dependent on the privacy settings of that friend. If you don’t see a Share button below a friend’s Facebook message, their profile is likely locked down. You can’t share their messages, but you can ask a peer to update a post’s privacy settings to “Friends” so that you and others can share it.
- Tap the three dots in the upper right corner of the post you wish to shareable.
- Tap “Edit Privacy” in the pop-up menu.
- Tap the checkbox next to “Public” in the “Privacy” menu, then tap “Done” in the upper right corner of the Page.
If you wish to make a previous post shareable, find it and click the ellipsis icon (•••) on the right side of the post. Then pick “Edit Message.” On the new tab, select “Public” from the first drop-down menu below your name (labeled “Friends”). To complete the update, choose “Save” in the upper-right corner.

In some cases, making a Facebook post public is not the safest option. When you have individual posts that you don’t want anyone to read, the privacy modes come in handy. You can easily adjust the post audience and limit who can see your Facebook messages.
