Ocado Group is a publicly-traded company that develops software, robotics, and automation systems for online retailers. Recently the company has invested about £10million in autonomous technology that revolutionalizes the robot industry.
Ocado Technology, a division of Ocado Group, designs most of Ocado’s technology in-house, including but not limited to: website and apps, automated warehouses and robots, machine learning-based fraud detection, customer service systems, and forecasting and routing systems. They describe themselves as specialists in automation and robotics, big data and the cloud, web, and app development, algorithms and smart optimization, and discrete event simulation.
The company plans to use driverless vehicles in its warehouses, yard and to deliver groceries to the houses without any help required from humans. Robots could carry shoppers’ groceries to their kitchen under plans being considered by online supermarket Ocado. The possibilities come after Ocado announced that it had invested £10million in autonomous software firm Oxbotica.
Oxbotica is an autonomous vehicle software company, headquartered in Oxfordshire, England, and founded by Paul Newman and Ingmar Posner. Oxbotica is well known for its services and has remained awards in 2017, 2018, and 2019 in various categories.
Ocado said it would use the Oxford firm’s technology in a “variety of vehicles”, from those in its warehouses and yards “all the way to last-mile deliveries and curb-to-kitchen robots”. The two firms worked on a trial in 2017 that led to Ocado launching the UK’s first autonomous grocery delivery trial in South East London.
Ocado said the plans would not affect its workforce or hiring plans but its announcement pointed to employee costs. “The cost of final mile delivery is approximately 10% of sales,” it said. “Labour represents approximately 50% of these costs.”

Since the arrival of the pandemic, we have companies make bigger moves for a better future. a few weeks ago, a well-known robotics company Boston Dynamics launched its new robot that will work in big warehouses to lift heavy objects. The robot has even a name called Stretch.
But… There’s A Problem!
Humans creating problems for another human. A.I. and 5G are about to introduce in the future which means a lot of work will be automated with the help of robots which kind of scares us as a major number of jobs will end for humans in the future that means no bread and butter for them to feed their families.
Every decision for something, is a decision against something!
