Instagram – one of the most popular social networks when it comes to post or share your favorite moments with your loved ones, now lets you post via desktop.
After years of focusing only on smartphone platforms and achieving huge popularity, Instagram has diverted attention towards the desktop posting. You’ll be able to create, edit, filter, and post. This might sound off to random Instagram users. But, if we talk about small businesses, startups, and content creators, this was much needed!
Instagram confirmed on Thursday,
“We know that many people access Instagram from their computer,” an Instagram spokesperson said. “To improve that experience, we’re now testing the ability to create a Feed post on Instagram with their desktop browser.”
Here’s How You Can Post
Want to see if this feature is live for you? Head over to Instagram in your browser and look for a new icon representing “plus sign” on the top right. that will allow you to create posts for the main feed. Currently the test is only available for some areas only
If you’re one of the lucky few with the feature already enabled, here’s how you can post on Instagram via desktop:
- Click the + button in the top right corner. It’ll appear between the messages and compass icons.
- Drag and drop photos or videos, or select from your computer.
- Add filters and edits to your post.
- Add a caption and geotag, and tag people in the post.
According to 9to5Mac, if you’ve got the feature, Instagram will alert you in a pop-up when you log in.

Year after Year, Instagram is evolving in terms of PC, in 2017, the social media app allowed users to view IG Stories via PC, Last year, DM feature was also added to their PC version and now posting directly from your personal computers will allow users more ease to share content.
However, something will still be missing on the PC version as compared to the mobile phone version. But wait, there’s more than that… According to 9to5Mac, The feature isn’t being added to the iPad but is being slowly rolled out to Instagram users.
Somehow, these social apps have also consumed a lot of hate by many individuals. Social media bullying, virtual racism does exist and spread via these platforms. But we have to destroy its root cause i.e the perpetrator, who is actually the user.
Last month, this popular app dropped its ratings with the majority of bad reviews by users because of IG’s biased posting, in fact, Instagram removed Bella Hadid, a famous Palestinian model posts for unknown reasons to which Instagram apologized later.
