Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, has stated that his company is working on a humanoid robot, basically, a prototype will be built that’s expected to arrive sometime next year.
Tesla’s experience with automated machinery in its factories, as well as some of the hardware and software that powers the company’s Autopilot driver-assistance software, will be used to power the humanoid robot.
Musk released the robot’s designs towards the end of his company’s “AI Day” event, where it showcased some of the artificial intelligence and supercomputer technology that it’s developing with the goal of one-day powering self-driving automobiles. On stage, the company also had a mannequin version that wasn’t operating.
The announcement was a bit dramatic as the Tesla Bot showed some nasty moves!
Musk, who has spoken repeatedly about his fears of runaway artificial intelligence, said the Tesla Bot is “intended to be friendly,” but that the company is designing the machine at a “mechanical level” so that “you can run away from it, and most likely overpower it. Musk said, ”It will be five feet, eight inches tall, weigh 125 pounds, and have a screen for a face. The code name for the bot inside the company is “Optimus,”

According to the company’s website, the robots are designed to perform risky, repetitive yet boring tasks that require a lot of physical energy and danger. Basically, in the future, humans won’t need to be involved in physical work that exhausts them. However, Musk warned that the robot “probably won’t work” at first.

“I think essentially in the future, physical work will be a choice, if you want to do it you can.”
“It’s intended to be friendly, of course, and navigate through a world of humans, and eliminate dangerous, repetitive and boring tasks.”

When asked about the near-term economics of entering the robotics industry, though, Musk said, “we will have to see.”
Considering Tesla’s history, it has been revolutionary like SpaceX, Neralink, Tesla Vehicles, Cyberland, and many other projects have performed well. The future looks promising for Tesla.
Tech giants have been working to onboard robots in their organizations for a long time. Amazon is also considering robots for their warehouse in the future. Boston Dynamics also aims to provide a variety of robots in the market.
Apart from how cool and impressive, these robots will be, there’s a fear in humans also about their bread and butter, robots will definitely take place of humans in the labour department and this will be a great threat to the labour community especially working for the tech giants across the globe.
