In case you’re unaware of this issue, the latest iPad Mini scrolling problem frequently blurs your screen that initially expected a software or hardware issue.
The term “Jelly Scrolling” refers to an effect in which lines of text tilt to the left when you scroll across a webpage or document. It’s simpler to understand if you look at the effect.
Apple replied to some inquiries about this issue, to which Apple didn’t give a shit about. The company responded that this issue is normal in LCD screens of the latest iPad Mini, that’s a bit odd to digest. You can see the live example in the tweet embedded below:
Apple says, ‘Jelly Scrolling’ on the iPad Mini 2021 is normal, yet we haven’t seen anything like this before. However, The similar jelly effect kinda issue was also seen in the previous iPad Air 4 series, but was only limited to some particular units which was probably a software issue that had been resolved after some time, but this time it’s somewhat vice-versa…
In response to Ars Technica’s inquiry, Apple has told that the “jelly scroll” issue on the 6th-generation iPad Mini is normal behavior for LCD screens. Because these screens do refresh line by line, there is a tiny delay between when the lines at the top of the screen and lines at the bottom are refreshed. This can cause uneven scrolling issues like the ones observed on the iPad.
During this teardown of this latest iPad Mini, iFixit found out that the controller board that operates the tablet’s display is positioned vertically. The iPad Air’s, on the other hand, is positioned horizontally, the jelly scrolling effect occurs when the tablet’s orientation does not match the positioning of the controller board, because the line-by-line refresh also occurs relative to the orientation of that board.
The major goal of the iFixit breakdown was to determine how easily it could be repaired. Well, there’s another issue for repairers, as it’s way more difficult to repair than other tech. The iPad Mini received a 3 out of 10 for repairability.
This ain’t the first time we are seeing issues with Apple’s latest products. The newly arrived iPhone 13 ProMotion display also got some issues. It was the main highlighting feature from Apple including the new cinematic feature in the camera department.
