AMD confirms that Tesla’s Model S and X will come with AMD high-end graphic processor units during its Computex 2021 keynote. These sports cars will able to go from 0 to 60 MPH in less than 2 seconds.
The chipmaker just revealed that Tesla’s upcoming infotainment system will be powered by AMD high-end Ryzen Processors with its own integrated graphics paired with a discrete AMD RDNA 2 GPU.
“So we actually have an AMD Ryzen APU powering the infotainment system in both cars as well as a discrete RDNA2-based GPU that kicks in when running AAA games, providing up to 10 teraflops of compute power…. we look forward to giving gamers a great platform for AAA gaming,”Lisa Su – AMD CEO
Tesla’s owner Elon Musk claimed that tesla users will play high-end games like The Witcher and CyberPunk 2077 via Tesla Arcade.
These AMD processors are powered by 10 teraflops of RDNA 2 that are extremely powerful and AMD has the guts to collaborate in this idea that is something that is out of the box. Now a question arises… Since Tesla is an electric vehicle, How will tesla handle that much power?
Engadget report answered this question,
The RDNA 2 graphics will only start working when a game needs more power. Having the ultra high-performing GPU working even when unnecessary will easily drain the battery of the car. Hence, it could be a power-saving feature that is ideal for the EV.
Did you toss the coin or not? Well! This poll seems like a majority of tesla users love to play games or maybe during this global pandemic they fell in love. Anyways this is something revolutionary that has never happened before.
How powerful would that be in terms of gaming? Specifications suggest that the experience will be kind of similar to console gaming experience or just near to gaming experiences like PlayStation and Xbox Series.
We have got a Tesla’s detailed block picture by one of the trusted leaks Patrick Shur,
Since AMD hardware is quite powerful, it needs powerful as well as compatible software to power AMD hardware which is to be equipped in an electric vehicle worth $80,000
Currently, tesla uses CATIA, which is the CAD software used in designing and creating the engineering process that leads to the production of its electric cars. According to the engineering tools director at Tesla limited, this software is also used to incorporate new product design and implement engineering processes.
With this massive collaboration from Tesla and AMD, it’s a win-win situation for both tech giants in their descriptive fields. Tesla sales will scale up high because of this gaming rig and AMD will gain more popularity and if things go well for AMD, they will surely beat their competitors like Nvidia and Intel.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted on Saturday that the Model S Plaid, which includes the new AMD system, will start deliveries on June 10th.
With AMD’s recent confirmation, we feel like there’s a lot to come from Tesla in terms of Tesla Arcade.
